Carson wasn't exactly bored, he was just oddly unoccupied. With the job he worked, he tended to always be moving as emergency after emergency got called in by dispatch. Today was a quiet Tuesday night, and apparently it was going to remain uneventful. His partner had just left the vehicle to restock on supplies for the back of the 'lance and he sat on the stretcher with the back doors wide open. He propped his elbow on his knee as he sat on the stretcher, his legs folded and knees tilted up. One hand pushed into the side of his face as his eyes scanned the page and the other held the book open and tilted to the little light streaming in from the moon.
He felt the rustle of his wings as they brushed his sides and, after instinctively glancing about, stretched them out of sight of the human eye. It was cramped in the small space but he only extended them about halfway. The soft and sleek texture tickled his chin and he smiled a bit. Carson pushed his hair out of his eye, turned the page, and returned his hand to his cheek.
In the darkness, he thought he heard his friend returned, but he didn't hear the usual plastic wrapping of several packages that would accompany him. Maybe he had gotten side-tracked on the way back, he tended to be that way. "ADHD man, it's a killer," is what he had gotten when asking his friend about it one day. He strained his hearing a bit further, but the harder he listened, the quieter the sound became. He was probably just paying attention to a stray walking in a puddle or some wind ruffling some tree branches. If anything, he's at the hospital, one of the safest places in Khontor. What could actually go wrong?

Tonight was just another night in a city laced with sin. Coming topside to play was thrilling in the sense that it came with so much danger as well as opportunity. Khontor promised thrill, promiscuity, and something to quench her mouthwatering desire for blood shed and sex. Lilith knew all the right places to look for her prized targets. Holy Sin was an obvious choice. Too obvious for the mother of demons. Instead she preferred the quiet hum of the hospital. Most people leaving the emergency room were far too out of sorts to fight off someone with unfathomable speed and lethal strength, making them easy prey to her most nefarious whims. Of course this time of night always comes along with competition; vampires looking for easy blood scores. However, they never had seemed like much of a challenge for her. Sometimes they were even quite fun. What she wasn't expecting was the unearthly feeling of something more unsettling.
Stalking around the parking lot, her eyes locked onto the dimly lit ambulance. "What oh what could a creature like this be doing here?" she thought to herself. Curiosity was taking hold of her, overriding her intuition. In hopes that he was an angel of death, hovering over a poor soul, ripe for the taking, Lilith slowly approached the parked emergency vehicle and the daunting uncertainty of what lay inside.
He was listening to her move, he had to be. Lilith would have been stupid to think she would go unnoticed. Calculating how to approach her challenge, she slowly circled around the other side, watching through the window at him. The mother of Demons however, was never one to back down from a challenge. With her heels clacking lightly on the pavement, and her hips swaying side to side in a seductive saunter, Lilith stepped up to the back, her eyes smouldering in at him. "What an interesting place to pray. Aren't you a little far from home, Handsome?" Lilith's voice was smokey and commanding, with just enough of the honey sweet vibrato to lull most into a false sense of security.

Carson feels the sinister presence before the woman chooses to reveal herself to him. He can't decide what exactly he's going to do about it though. He can't exactly charge and fight her off. Not only is he in a high-traffic area but he's also expecting Josh to show up any minute. And an unassuming human might not take kindly to seeing a battle between what feels like an incredibly powerful demon and an angel. He keeps his eyes on his book as he thinks, listening to the click of the heels and following the sound around the vehicle. Maybe it won't come to a conflict, maybe she'll feel at a disadvantage.
He shut the book with a light clap as she spoke her first words, but he already had his eyes on her. He chose not to unravel from his position, but knew he could quickly if she made any sudden moves. He gave a bit of a smirk, feeling the heaviness of the atmosphere as they both considered each other. The smug confidence she displayed had no effect, and gave him no comfort. Play it safe and follow her game? That's the best option as of now. "I'd say you might be just as far from yours. Any particular occasion?" The southern twang of his accent sounded out in the night. It would be foolish to think she'd diverge if she was partaking in any deals that night. Unless she felt like bragging. Which is not a stretch for her kind.
Carson knew of the strong demon presence in Khontor, of course he did. He felt it with every step he took on the sidewalks of the city the first day he had arrived. He had thought about hunting them down and exterminating them, but that wasn't exactly the task he'd been given. So he stayed silent. Now, as he met with this woman (it was unsettling to compare this being to a human despite its appearance) face to face, he regretted that decision a bit. Something of her caliber would have a human as helpless as a turkey in November.
