She left the Holy Sin at 2 am, her usual time; it was rare for her to be there longer than that. The only time she stayed was if she had been bought till dawn. Stepping onto the sidewalk she breathed in the brisk night air and sighed. She had been off the last couple of nights, only just making her quota this evening. Nothing had quite been the same since the night she had spent with the Fallen Angel. No one seemed to give her the same rush. Even the regulars that she saw almost nightly didn't have the same effect on her as they usually did. Part of her wondered if the night had even really happened. Could it have just been a figment of her imagination? No, it couldn't have been. The pleasure was too real for it to have been fake. With a shake of her head she snapped herself out of her thoughts and moved down the street at her normal leisurely pace.
Kendall tightened her coat around her as the night wind sent a child through her skin. The nights were getting colder and darker and she didn't like it much. Kendall was one of those people that liked to be warm. Pausing, she glanced at the ally to her left. It would be a faster rout home, but the alleyways of Khontor were not exactly the safest places for humans to venture at night. AS the wind blew again she sighed. Screw the danger. It was cold out and Kendall wanted to go home. Turning down the darkened path she shoved her hands in her pocket and watched her feet.
To her surprise the alley was relatively empty. A few street folk slept in boxes but aside from that Kendall found herself very much alone. Now, this would normally be a welcome thing for the girl, but she knew all to well the way the alleyways in Khontor worked. She wasn't alone, not in the slightest. There were people around, through they couldn't be seen. Gangs and thugs littered the downtown and the only time they were not visible was when they were stalking. The only question was, who were they stalking? As she reached the last bit of the alley Kendall relaxed a little, she could see her street now and nothing was so shadowed as to hide anyone or anything. Almost out now Kendall moved to speed up but paused. A figure lay against the wall a ways up. Part of her wanted to just walk away, it wasn't her problem after all, but another part of her screamed to lend a hand. Had it been her, she would have wanted someone to stop and help. "Ex..Excuse me? Are you alight?" She asked almost timidly as she approached with caution.

Keziah couldn't honestly remember the last time someone had gotten the drop on her. She was ancient in relative terms that humans could understand, but she was created to be a fighter, a warrior. She had survived countless battles and injuries. Tonight, however, her opponent had been different. She had been hired by a demon for protection against her own kind. Well, similar to her in that they were angels, not necessarily fallen. Kez had faced off against her own kind before. She had resigned herself to be a gun for hire, picking and choosing the jobs she wanted. This particular job paid quite well, and she had some exceptional plans for that money. She knew exactly what--or who she would be spending it on.
Her payoff would never come as she found herself squaring off with someone she once would have deemed a friend, a brother in arms. She wasn't sure how it happened, but she had failed to not only protect her charge, but herself as well. Now, here she lay in a partially abandoned alleyway, covered in bruises and blood. Wounds didn't bother her as much, and she healed faster than mortals, but that didn't mean she was privy from feeling pain or even dying. Slumping against the side of a building, she slid to the ground, her head leaning forward so that her hair covered her face.
Kez wasn't sure how long she had been sitting there. She couldn't tell how much blood she had lost, though there seemed to be a decent amount covering her hands and the pavement around her. She had been slipping in and out of consciousness, hearing voices of people passing by, helpless to call out. With any luck, anyone remotely dangerous would simply take her for dead and walk on. Then a voice reached her ears. It was soft and familiar, and Keziah summoned what little she had left of her strength and looked up towards the voice. She could hardly make out the form in the dark, but especially with one eye swollen shut and the other blurred by blood dripping down her forehead. Kez tried to part her lips, tried to utter words, but all that came out was a raspy breath and a croaking sound.

Slowly she inched closer and closer. From here she could tell that the figure was a female and very badly beaten. I guess that answered her stalked question. Daring to get even closer she spoke again. "Hello?" Her biggest fear was that the person was dead. She hated dead things, they grossed her out like nothing else. Tilting her head she looked over the wounded girl, trying to figure out what she could do. When the persons head suddenly moved her heart nearly stopped. She recognized the woman instantly. It was a face she had almost fallen in love with 10 times over.
"Keziah?" Moving much quicker now she moved to the girls side. "Oh my god.... what happened?!" Brushing some hair out of the woman's face she looked her over carefully. The wounds were easy to spot, the Fallen was in bad shape. With a frantic look around Kendall found herself at a loss of what to do. She couldn't call for help. The hospitals didn't serve Fallen in Khontor but she knew that if she didn't do something, Keziah would surely be killed. An injured Angel, Fallen or otherwise was always a fair game snack for Demons.
Kendall wasn't a doctor, but she knew that the Fallen needed help. She didn't know what came over her but before she knew it she was trying to get the girl up. "Hold on okay? I'm gonna get you our of here." With a loud grunt she work at lifting the girl. Her plan was simple, take the Fallen to her own home and care for her. Why? Kendall didn't even know the answer to that herself. Something about the girl called to her, pulled at her. She had to make sure she was okay.

For the first time tonight, Keziah actually felt comforted and safe. She wasn't sure why, but she knew it was because Kendall was near. Even when she was frantic and frightened, the woman had a spellbinding voice. She opened her mouth to speak again, this time managing to get out a few words with her rasping breathing. "Fight...demon..." Two words were all she could manage as her face contorted into pain, then agony, then fear like a child.
She groaned when Kendall attempted to get her up, but she managed to get to her feet. Kez was leaning heavily against the brick wall beside her, ready to faint should the hard ground want her back. Slowly, she moved her hand away from her gut, revealing the handle of a blade still stuck in her flesh. With a loud, agonizing cry, she put her hand back over the wound, the handle to the blade securely between her fingers as she applied pressure around the wound.
Again, she looked up at Kendall, hopeful she could put the woman at ease. Kez was aware after their first encounter, and then finding her in an alley tonight, the young Fallen knew she had damaged whatever it was they had. She couldn't dwell on what might have been, but even Kez wasn't too proud to admit when she needed help. With pleading eyes, she looked long and hard at Kendall before parting her lips again, "Please...help m-me..."

Kendall's mind was working at a mile a minute. She knew that she only had a short period of time to get the Fallen inside to where it was safe before something big and bad came after them. The fact that a demon had done this was no surprise to her. But she did have to wonder what had happened to the creature. "Shhh, it's gonna be okay." She tried to reassure the girl whom she had now become a crutch for. Very carefully she positioned herself to help take the woman's weight. Kendall knew she would never be able to get the blood out of her coat but she didn't care.
Seeing the blade in the woman's side made Kendall instantly sick to her stomach. "Oh god... That should not be in there..." The words were more to herself than to Kez at this point. Since when did demons fight with knives? Shaking her head she tried to put on a brave face. The last thing she wanted was for the Fallen to think that she was panicking; Of course, she was panicking, but that wasn't the point. Looking out the alley quickly she started to move slowly.
"Just hold on, I'm gonna take care of you." Her words were soft and calm. "I'm taking you to my place. Come on, nice and slow" Taking small steps she carefully lead the Fallen down the street, avoiding eye contact with anyone they happened to pass. Reaching the apartments she called home she carefully lifted the girl into her arms and carried her up the stairs and into the lobby. She held the girl like a baby, waiting for the elevator and then letting it carry them to the 4th floor.
Once into her apartment Kendall carried Kez to her bedroom and laid her on the bed. "I'm sorry, I have to get that knife out of you..." Leaving her on the bed for a moment Kendall fetched her first aid kit from the bathroom and a series of towels and bandages as well. "Are you ready?"

Time was relative as Kez slipped in and out of consciousness. There were spans where she remembered attempting to walk, but was more being half-dragged by Kendall. Then there were times she could have sworn she was being carried. She remembered thinking how odd that this woman, this human could manage to lift her, let alone get her inside her apartment. Then, she was lying on a bed, struggling to maintain the world around her. Kez desperately tried to focus on Kendall's form, though her vision would go blurry every once in a while.
With a pitiful groan, the fallen angel took her hands away from the blade. The ornamental hilt was her first revelation and then the pieces started to fit. White hot pain seared through her body and she let out an agonizing shout, thankful Kendall had left the room. When she returned, Kez knew what needed to be done even before the words came from the girl's mouth. This knife was special, and it had a special purpose. Sadly, the longer the blade remained in her body, the more poison would seep into her system until she died.
Kez scooted herself up on the bed, resting her back against the headboard in a reclining position. Before Kendall could do anything, Keziah's hand gripped the hilt of the blade and she quickly pulled it from her gut with her last burst of strength. She let out another cry of pain before holding the weapon out to Kendall."Don't...lose that. If I survive the night--I want to return it to it's owner in a similar fashion." She closed her eyes for a moment. Each wound had it's own fresh sting, but the knife wound was by far the most painful.

She watched as the fallen pulled herself up. She felt helpless, and actually rather scared. Was the woman in her bed dying? If she did die, what would she do? Question after question raced through the young human's head as she tried frantically to get the first aid things out of the blasted kit. When she both the thing 2 years earlier, she never thought she would need it. Fumbling with it a little her attention was quickly pulled back to Kez as a scream escaped the Fallen. "Oh shit!" She gasped as the knife was held out to her.
Quickly taking it she laid it on the floor by her feet and quickly put a heap of bandages on the wound, applying pressure. "When I said it needed to come out, I didn't mean right that second!" She sighed lightly and put Kez's hands over the bandages. "Hold this here, I'll get some water to clean the cut... Don't move." She added the extra instruction just to be safe. Hurrying to the bathroom she filled a bucket with water and returned with it and a clean cloth. "Let me see it." She spoke the instructions calmly as she moved the Fallen's hands and removed the now blood soaked bandages.
Carefully and meticulously she started to clean the wound. She had done minor first aid before but never something this bad. Part of her wondered if the wound would need stitches, then again, did Angels or Fallen ever need stitches. "Just stay with me okay.... I'm gonna take care of you. Just hold on."

Keziah winced as bandages and pressure were applied to the wound. Everything hurt, and not just like normal wounds either. Every mark on her body, even healed scars seemed to burn. Her flesh was crawling with unseen fire, and she wondered briefly if this was what it was like to be from Hell. Kez felt hands taking her limp ones and pressing them over the wound. She let out another whimper of pain, but followed her instructions. A smile escaped her usually hardened exterior, "What can I say? I've always been one to not follow the line." She looked down at the knife before allowing her head to lull to one side.
When Kendall returned with water, Kez again did as she was instructed. She let her hands fall to either side, exposing the blood soaked bandages beneath. It was hard to tell if all the blood came from the knife, or if the multiple cuts along her body aided in the deep red. Either way, she had lost a lot of blood. Her mind was too scattered, and Kez found it difficult to focus on keeping her wings hidden and secure from human eyes. She hardly ever used the damned things anymore, and their color was only a reminder of how her Father had abandoned her and cast her out, but she could no longer conceal them in her weakened state. Slowly, the massive feathers appeared. They had started out as a light gray, nearly white color, but had since faded to a dark gray, almost blackened. The curled in behind her like a soft back support while Kendall tended to her wounds.
"Don't..." Kez placed her hands on top of Kendall's, stopping their motion. She looked up at her, eyes wide with a mixture of thanks and despair. She knew very well how this night could end and more than anything she didn't want the woman to have to witness any of it. Since their first night together, Kendall had occupied much of Kez's mind. She found the woman intoxicating, and though she had vowed never again to become vulnerable to someone, she knew deep down that was what was happening with Kendall. Kez squeezed the woman's hand as best she could before looking down at the knife and speaking with labored breath, "It was poisoned. A special formula meant for Angels, Fallen or not. Like I said--I'll be more than happy to return it to it's owner...if I survive the night..."

Kendall cleaned Kez's wounds slowly, careful not to hurt the girl anymore than she had to. In her heart, she knew the odds weren't good, but she had to try. Something in her wouldn't let her give up. Not on Keziah, she just couldn't. Dipping the cloth over and over again into her bucket of warm water she tried her best to remain calm. As the woman's wings suddenly appeared Kendall had to work harder to concentrate on the task at hand. Wings had always fascinated her and she had never had the chance to see them before. Part of her wanted to reach out and touch them but the other part refused to let her stray from what she was doing.
Pausing only for a moment at the Fallen's words she shook her head and moving her hands, continuing to clean the wounds. "Don't talk like that... You are going to make it. If it was poisoned, cleaning it will help..." She pleaded with the girl as she continued to dip the cloth and apply it to the cuts. Kendall had gotten her this far, she refused to give up now. "When you survive the night" She tried to remain positive, "I'll help you find the bastard that did this but for now, you need to rest." She looked the girl in the eye with a serious but kind look. She was asking for a lot, she knew that. It was not easy to put trust in someone you hardy knew, especially when you were almost bleeding to death.

Keziah had seen such desperation a few times before in her long life. Before, when she was a warrior for her Father, losing one of her own was a holy and divine moment. Was there a heaven for angels? That she could not answer, though she doubted it. However, dying as an angel of God is more spiritual than anything else. When Kez had fallen, she had yet to be so tainted but the world of man and her bitterness. She had actually tried to help mortals, and each time she failed and someone died, she had held the same look of desperation when they exhaled their last breath as Kendall now had. She hated herself for being the cause of this look.
She also knew when to fight, and when to comfort someone by letting them believe they could make a difference. Kez hadn't completely fallen from grace. At least not yet. She nodded and moved her hand away from Kendall's, allowing her to continue cleaning her wounds. Kez closed her eyes and attempted to slow her breathing to help with her pain. After a moment, her eyes opened yet again, this time with a bit more resolve in them."Kendall..." Her words were soft, barely above a whisper, "Kendall, stop. I need you to hear me..." Kez took the woman's hand, lacing their fingers together, and she looked at her with adoration in her eyes, "I can't...I can't let you do this. I can't let you watch me die. It isn't fair to you. None of this is fair to you..."

Kendall did her best to work quickly, carefully bandaging wounds as she got them clean. She knew that people like Kez healed faster than others but she wondered if holy water might help. Or would that hurt her more? why did this have to be so complicated?! Had this happened last week Kendall wouldn't have even bat an eyelash. But now, something was different though Kendall couldn't quite put her finger on what it was.
Pausing once more she looked at Kez, leaning in so she could hear better. "Alright, I'm listening." Gripping the other girls hand she gave her undivided attention. She could feel tear welling in her eyes as the girl spoke. Why was she crying? It wasn't like she really knew the Fallen Angel that was laying in her bed. But that didn't change the that fact that it was happening.
"Keziah..." She had to really focus so tat her voice didn't crack. "I'm not giving up on you.. I won't, and you can't make me." Taking a deep breath she gripped Kez's hand tighter. "Whether you live to die, I am not leaving you hear to suffer alone. It is inhumane, and if I am sure of anything it is that I am a human." The words sounded better in her head but it was to late to fix that. "Whether you like it or not, I am staying right here. Now shut up and let me take care of you."

The words weren't something Keziah was used to hearing. Someone not willing to give up on her? Just about everyone she had ever known, even her creator had given up on her. Yet this woman, this human was willing to stay by her side and nurse her back to health. Kez wasn't sure what the feeling was swelling in her chest, but it was certainly something she had never felt before.
Slowly, she simply nodded in response. A small smile escaped her lips as she let go of Kendall's hand to let her keep bandaging wounds. She relaxed back, breathing slow and steady as her pain lessened somewhat. "Alright, but only if you stay with me."
Keziah was not used to being so vulnerable. She had no strength and no way or protecting herself at this moment. She was completely and utterly at the will of whomever had come across her. Luckily, Kendall had found her on a fluke. For whatever reason, though, she felt completely safe under the woman's care. There would be very little Kendall could do should someone track Kez and attack again, but just her presence was enough for now. Looking up at her, studying her face and her features, Keziah had an overwhelming desire to kiss the girl. "You are a very interesting human, did you know that?"

Kendall waited for Kez to process what she had said. She knew it was weird, and probably very unexpected. If she was being honest with herself, she wasn't even sure why she felt so strongly about not leaving. As rebellious as she could be, Kendall normally respected peoples wishes, especially when their wish was to be left alone. But she couldn't do that to Keziah. She couldn't stop herself from staying at comforting the girl.
"Thank-you." Her words were soft as she continued her work, though part of her wished she had a third hand so that she could continue holding the other girls. She was almost done now, at least, done with the wounds she could see. "I'm not going anywhere." She responded, smiling softly back at the Fallen. Kendall was glad that Kez seemed to have a change of heart. She didn't want to be sent away.
The human was aware of the danger she was in. Fallen blood wreaked a smell that both demons and angels could smell a mile away. She herself didn't think it had much of a scent at all but she knew better than that. There was also the treat of Vampires and Werewolves, but she knew how to handle those. Being a prostitute did come with a good amount of training on how to make creatures like that back off. Meeting the girls eyes she nodded lightly, "Not all humans are dull and simple. We have our interesting moments." Brushing some hair from Kez's face she sighed, "How does it feel now?"
